Reindeer Legends ~ Though Reindeer may not fly, they have come to represent safe journeys over harsh winter landscapes. There is some truth to be found in the legendary story of Rudolph with his red nose. When the weather turns particularly cold, blood flow increases in the beloved animal’s nose, keeping its surface warm while turning a shade of red. Does it “light the way”? Who knows. But a “Good Night!” and “Merry Christmas!” to all! • Photo of Rudolph in Niantic Light Parade by Jan Logozzo ٭ “Safe Travels” haiku and blog post by Mary O’Connor

Thank you Mary for sharing your gift in crafting a Haiku. I appreciate the additional thoughts about how our bodies adapt to winter’s cold. Growing up in Montana, it totally makes sense.
