Rescue Dog

“A mutt is couture—

it’s the only one like it

in the world,

made especially for you.”

— Isaac Mizrahi

“It’s an interesting inversion of status, the reigning breed in the dog park these days is the really-oddball-unidentifiable-mixed-breed-mutt-found-wandering-the-street or its equivalent. The stranger the mutt the better; the more peculiar the circumstance of it coming into your life, the better.” — Susan Orlean

Adopted six years ago by her rescue family, Brenda, Brian, Kat and Kevin, Khloe is thought to be a mix of Catahoula Leopard/hound/beagle and who knows what. That said, it is Khloe’s loving and loyal temperament that rises to the surface, causing her to be known simply as a sweetheart. ~ Watercolor portrait painted by Mary O’Connor

      1. It sure was a sad thing. He was such a cute guy. Someone must have left him by the side of the road when he was a baby puppy. I think he must have heard or smelled our big doggies and come over. I heard some whimpering under the floor of one of our old sheds, and put some food and water here. It took quite some time before he overcame his fear and came closer to the house. Later he became friends with Buster and we called him “Buster’ Sidekick”.
