“Our hearts grow tender with childhood memories and love of kindred, and we are better throughout the year for having, in spirit, become a child again at Christmastime.” — Laura Ingalls Wilder
“Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas.” — Calvin Coolidge

Artists’ palettes hung on “Miss Florence’s Artist Tree,” at the Florence Griswold Museum, Old Lyme, Conecticut. A 12-foot tree decorated with artists’ palettes painted by professional artists from Southeastern Connecticut and beyond, this signature tree began in 2004 with 52 palettes. Each year the Museum invites more artists to add to this special project. – Photos by Mary O’Connor © 2016
