Shoes on the Danube Promenade ― A haunting and moving memorial to the Jewish victims shot into the Danube in 1944-45 by fascist Arrow Cross Militiamen, 60 pairs of rusted men’s, women’s and children’s shoes sit at the edge of the water, as if their owners had just stepped out and left them there.

Your photo and the reminder of those innocent victims of such horrific events struck a blow to my heart today!
Yes, we must remember them and be grateful we are here now and the freedom and blessings we enjoy.

Certainly haunting! And a reminder to fight against the rising hate of foreigners/immigrants. Thanks for reminding us.
Have a wonderful day,
