The Budapest skyline is noted for its spires and colorful rooftops, seen above with the distinctive spire and colorful roof tiles of the Mátyás Church in the heart of Buda’s Castle District. The Holy Trinity Column, the town’s oldest Baroque sculpture, was commissioned in 1712 in memory of the 600 victims of a plague which broke out after Rákóczi’s War of Independence.
