Rusty Leaves

rusty leaves 001

Overnight

they fell,

floating

and curling

their way

through darkness

while I slept

and spirits

dozed, as

naked trees

bent to

the ground,

the face

of the earth

covered

its eyes and

the crickets

came inside.
